Coming home with the Wild Geese
An invitation to deepen connection, community and collaboration with fellow alumni of our nature facilitation training course
“Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things.”
Mary Oliver

Coming Home
Your nature facilitation course with us was a calling home towards a deeper connection with yourself, others and the natural world. Yet the course was just the beginning… and very likely you are still sensing your way towards the full depth and expansiveness that awaits you. In the words of John O’Donohue, though your destination may not be clear, “you can trust the promise of this opening; unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning; that is at one with your life's desire.”
Unfurling can be a long, beautiful and sometimes challenging journey, and we have from heard from many of you that you long for support from a like-hearted community as you strive to make changes in your personal and professional lives. It is more easeful and joyful when we unfurl together. We have heard your longing and that is why we call to you now, like the wild geese, to come together with fellow nature facilitation alumni. We have run this course ten times over the last five years and over 150 people have experienced it. We feel now is the time to bring this flock together to make it easier to deepen connection, community and collaboration.
Geese can fly more than 70% further when traveling in a V-shaped formation than when journeying alone. The swirling air in the wake of each bird generates an uplift that helps those close behind. It is harder work being out in front, which is why they take turns leading. Our vision is to learn from the wild geese and build a community where we don’t have to do all the hard pioneering work on our own - rather hold a place where we co-create, co-lead and co-support each other. Together, we can be part of a larger formation.
It’s Already Starting…
The same month we launched this network (September 2024) two deep nature camps were independently co-facilitated by alumni of our nature facilitation training. One of these (in the Netherlands) was hosted by alumni from three different cohorts. This is just one example of what might emerge by weaving closer connections within our community…
Wild Wednesdays (monthly online gathering)
On the first Wednesday of every month, one or two of the alumni will facilitate a “Wild Wednesday” online gathering on zoom between 8 to 9:15pm. These follow a similar format each time:
CONNECT. Space to land and connect with friends old and new.
DEEPEN. Explore a practice / skill / conversation around themes emerging from the nature facilitation course. For example, it could be a facilitation tool, a deep listening practice, a creative writing exercise, an embodied experience or a conversation on a specific topic (such as working with organisations, holding more inclusive spaces or exploring purpose).
INTEGRATE. The invitation for a practice to do over the next month which is shared with the wider group. For example, sitting with a tree twice a week, a daily poetry practice, mapping out how you share your gifts with the world or a digital detox.
Anyone can facilitate these gatherings and they are offered very much in the culture of experimentation (a perfection free zone!). If you have an idea for a session you would like to host, please email geesewild8@gmail.com.
In-person Wild Geese Gathering
Our first in-person gathering will be 19th - 22nd June 2025 - over the summer solstice - in Devon. More details coming soon.
Local Meet Ups
We are also encouraging people to meet up with others locally to connect, share, experiment and go on mini-adventures together. Join a regional group near you in our WhatsApp community and if there isn’t one already, we invite you to start one!
Sleeping out
An invitation to sleep out on the same night in the summer of 2025 - either to do on your own or with others. Details to follow.

Share a Photo
Please send a photo (max 1500 pixels length and width) to geesewild8@gmail.com. We will combine this with the information that you have shared above to create a profile that will appear on an unlinked page on our website. Everyone’s profile will be shared on the same page (organised by regions) which we hope will make it a valuable way to connect with others in the community. Here’s some examples from the September 2024 cohort…

What next?
Who knows where this will all lead. We don’t have a fixed vision... Yet we feel something very resourcing, supportive and powerful might emerge that could just help all of us to discover our place in the family of things…
